What to Wear

Your outfit sets the tone. Dress how you want your brand to feel. Here's what reads well on camera and what doesn't.

Wear This
  • Solid, muted colors: navy, charcoal, olive, burgundy, cream, black
  • Clothes that fit well and feel comfortable sitting and standing
  • Dress the way you'd want a customer to see you
  • Iron or steam your clothes the night before
  • Bring a backup outfit for quick changes or accidents
Avoid This
  • Small stripes, busy patterns, or plaid (they flicker on camera)
  • Large visible logos or someone else's brand
  • Noisy or reflective jewelry and accessories
  • Bright neon colors (they cast color onto your skin)
  • Sunglasses on camera (we need to see your eyes)

Your Space

Preparing the Location

We'll make any space look great. But a little prep goes a long way in the final product.

01

Clean + Declutter

Clear surfaces, wipe down counters and desks, remove random clutter. The camera sees everything you don't notice anymore.

02

Turn On the Lights

Every light on. Open the blinds. We bring our own gear, but natural light always helps the final look.

03

Signage + Branding

Make sure your logo, signs, and branded materials are clean, straight, and visible. These are easy shots we'll want to grab.

04

Kill Distractions

TVs off. Phones silent. Move anything you don't want on camera: personal items, old signage, messy corners.

05

Clear the Path

We move through your space with cameras and gear. Keep hallways and walkways clear so the crew can work freely.

06

Brief Your Team

Let staff know we're coming. If they might be in the background, they should dress presentably and avoid looking at the camera.

On Camera

How to Crush It
On Screen

Most people have never been on camera. That's fine. Here's what the best talent does, whether they realize it or not.

01

Talk to the person, not the lens

Look at whoever is asking the questions. It feels more natural and looks way better in the edit. We'll tell you if we need you to look at the camera.

02

Answer in full sentences

We usually can't use the question in the edit. Instead of "Yes, we do," say "We've been serving this community for over 15 years." Give us something that works on its own.

03

You can always redo it

Stumble? Blank out? Totally normal. Just stop, take a breath, start the sentence over. We'll cut it together. Nobody nails it first take.

04

Slow down

Nerves make people rush. Consciously drop your pace about 20%. Pauses are fine. They actually make you sound more confident and give us clean edit points.

05

Be yourself

Authenticity beats performance every single time. Don't try to sound like a commercial. Talk the way you'd talk to a customer you really like. That energy makes great video.

06

Project just a little more

About 110% of your normal volume. Not yelling, just enough that your voice carries. Energy doesn't always translate the same way through a screen.

07

Watch your body language

Relax your shoulders, sit or stand tall, keep your hands calm. Don't cross your arms. A slight lean forward shows engagement without looking stiff.
